Rev. Craig Muhlbach

Rev. Craig Muhlbach has served at St. John’s Sauers since August 1999. He is a 1987 graduate of Concordia College in Bronxville, New York.  Pastor completed his Master of Divinity at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, in 1992. He has served both in the United States Coast Guard and recently as a minister in the Indiana National Guard where he was deployed to Iraq. Pastor Muhlbach was previously called to churches in Nebraska and Wyoming before serving at St. John’s Sauers. He and his wife, Erica, have three sons.


Trisha Engel

Trisha Engel is the principal at St. John's. She received her bachelor's degree from Concordia University Chicago, a master's degree from Concordia University Chicago, and is pursuing another master's degree from Indiana University- Bloomington. Previously, she taught multiple grades in inner-city Chicago before accepting a call to serve as a teacher at Immanuel Lutheran School in Seymour in 2016. Her husband, Clayton, is a financial advisor and works at Prosperity Financial. They have two cats, Theo and Ellie.

Her favorite Bible verse is Joshua 1:9: Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.


Kim Sullivan

Kim Sullivan is a 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade teacher at St. John's Lutheran School. She has taught in Commiskey, Indiana and at Jackson Elementary in Seymour. Mrs. Sullivan graduated from Indiana University in 2004 with a B.A. in Elementary Education. She then went onto receive her master's degree through an online program. She was born and raised in Seymour, attending Immanuel Lutheran Church. Her husband, Scott Sullivan, is from Brownstown and works at King’s Trucking and Excavation. She has a daughter, Addi, who is 7 and a son, Archer, who is 4.


Lisa Kloeker

Lisa Kloeker is the third and fourth grade teacher at St. John’s Lutheran School. She has taught at North Vernon Elementary. Mrs. Kloeker graduated from Ball State University in 1995 with a B.A. in elementary education. She went onto to receive her master’s degree from Olivet University. She was born and raised in Seymour, attending Immanuel Lutheran Church. Her husband, Douglas Kloeker, is from Seymour and is the owner of Kloeker Inspections. They have two cats named Olivia and Simba.


Susan Hessong

Mrs. Susan Hessong currently is the 1st and 2nd grade teacher here at St. John's.  She graduated from Concordia University, Ann Arbor, Michigan with a B.A. in education.  She has also taken graduate courses through Niagra University, IUPUI, and at Indiana Wesleyan.  In her twenty years of educational ministry, she has experience teaching at all grade levels from K-8.  Susan has taught in Lutheran schools in Cleveland, Ohio, North Tonawanda, New York, Lafayette, Indiana, and most currently here at St. John's.  

Her husband, Brian, is a financial services professional with Thrivent Financial. They have three children.


Leanna Royalty

Leanna Royalty is the kindergarten teacher at St. John's Lutheran School. She has taught in Clarksville, Indiana and at Jackson Elementary in Seymour. Mrs. Royalty graduated from Indiana University in 2012 with a B.A. in Elementary Education. She was born and raised in Seymour, attending Redeemer Lutheran Church. Her husband, Drew Royalty, is also from Seymour and works at Crane Hill Machine. 


Brenda Klosterman

Brenda Klosterman teaches pre-school – both beginner and pre-Kindergarten.  She is now now our longest serving teacher, with 3 years as a teacher’s aid prior to assuming responsibility for pre-school instruction.  She and her husband, Max, have four adult children and reside on a farm near our church and school.


Kasee Lambring

Kasee Lambring is a part-time Mathematics teacher at St. John's Sauers. She received her bachelors degree from Indiana University Bloomington and then completed her masters degree through Ball State University. Kasee previously taught high school and middle school mathematics in Brownstown. Her husband Chris owns Conner Smith Eye Center in Seymour where he is an optometrist. Kasee and Chris have three sons (Noah, Elliot, and Miles) and their family are all members of St. Johns Lutheran Church Sauers.


Ross Rieckers

Ross Rieckers is the Music Director/Organist at St. John Sauers, serving since 2005. He attended Concordia University Ann Arbor and Indiana University graduating with a degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Music. In addition to teaching, Mr. Rieckers is also a farmer, drives a School Bus, and does farm mechanic work. He is also a well known collector of Oliver and White Tractors, having over 30 in his collection. He grew up at St. John’s and later attended Zion Lutheran in Seymour before transferring back to Sauers. He has been playing the organ in churches since he was 14 years old, serving at Good Shepherd, Medora, Immanuel Lutheran Howell Michigan; and Divine Shepherd Ann Arbor Mi and St. John Sauers. His confirmation verse is John 10: 27-28 “27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”

Holly Sawyer

Holly Sawyer is the Administrative Assistant for St. John's Lutheran School and Church.  She has served at St. John's since 2001.  She and her husband, Mark, have two children.
